Automobiles in Germany's City Discovered Smeared with Nazi Symbols in Blood, Law Enforcement Report

Incident location Affected vehicle Local Police
Authorities reported they were notified by a resident who discovered a car in Hanau smeared with reddish fluid

Around fifty automobiles have been covered with what seems to be human blood in the German town of Hanau close to Frankfurt, police confirm authorities.

Vehicles, building surfaces and postboxes were defaced, sometimes with swastikas, they announced in a statement.

Officers say they were notified late on Wednesday night, when a individual observed that a automobile in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish-hued liquid.

The substance had been drawn in the pattern of a banned symbol, they added.

Law enforcement then located numerous other marked automobiles and house walls in the adjacent neighborhood.

Nazi symbols are prohibited in Germany under laws banning the public exhibition of Nazi-era symbols.

Officials report preliminary tests suggest the fluid was probably human bodily fluid.

"There is still no indication as to its origin; officials are currently not informed of any harm in connection with the occurrence," they added.

Local authorities said they were attempting "to unravel the incident" and have appealed to the public for information.

A senior representative commented the attack rendered him without words and required to be solved quickly.

"This act strikes at the core of Hanau and reawakens the trauma of the extremist terrorist attack in 2020," he wrote on a platform, referring to the murder of nine individuals by a gunman focusing on individuals of migrant background in February 2020.
